# Mythic Current — a field of 90 turbines

This landscape concept brings the two turbine experiences into one outdoor field: 24 turbines for visitors to turn by hand along a walking route, and 66 taller turbines that respond to the wind farther into the landscape. Three settings use the same installation plan: a coastal meadow, a mountain shelf, and an open inland meadow.

## Arrangement and scale

- **90 turbines:** 24 hand units and 66 wind units.
- **12 paired hand stations:** one turbine on each side of the path at each station.
- **140 × 110 m field:** approximately 1.54 hectares, before any offsite access or service areas.
- **3 m walking route:** a gently curving route approximately 126 m long, with an arrival court and a destination overlook.
- **Hand units:** approximately 1.72 m tall, with their interaction ring centered 1.06 m above local ground.
- **Wind units:** approximately 5 m tall in six staggered rows, with broad views between installations.
- **Rest and scale:** three benches and a small number of human figures help describe the visitor experience.

The hand turbine centers sit 2.2 m to either side of the path centerline. With an approximate 0.41 m ring radius and a 1.5 m path half-width, the nearest ring edge is approximately 0.29 m beyond the path edge. This positions the hand interaction near the route while retaining the full modeled path width.

Wind turbine centers are at least **11.33 m apart** in this composition. The nearest wind center is approximately **14.94 m from the path centerline**. These values describe the illustrated plan only. They are not approved aerodynamic spacing, structural clearances, or public safety setbacks.

## Three landscape settings

| Setting | Landscape idea | Visitor experience |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Coast | A gently sloping coastal field with the sea beyond its northern edge | A low arrival route, open horizon, and taller wind sculptures across the meadow |
| Mountain | A broad alpine shelf, with distant ridges outside the field | A restrained foreground route and layered views through the wind installation |
| Meadow | Softly rolling open ground with trees outside the installation | A park-like field that can fit a large garden, arts landscape, or open estate |

The preset terrain is deliberately gentle around the path. The mathematical route has maximum longitudinal slopes of approximately 0.25% for coast, 1.45% for mountain, and 1.54% for meadow. These are properties of the concept surface, rather than an accessibility certification. Surface construction, crossfall, reach, turning areas, foundations, drainage and an actual site survey would determine a usable built route.

## Mythological turbine palette

Eight previously created models are reused throughout the field. Repetition makes the installation read as a unified landscape and keeps the interactive scene efficient.

| Use | Model | Blade treatment | Blades |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Wind | 01 · Phoenix | Sculptural sail | 3 |
| Wind | 06 · Naga | Sculptural sail | 5 |
| Wind | 54 · Simurgh | Creature-shaped blade | 6 |
| Wind | 57 · Quetzalcoatl | Creature-shaped blade | 6 |
| Hand | 08 · Ouroboros | Sculptural sail | 7 |
| Hand | 36 · Pegasus | Sculptural sail | 5 |
| Hand | 51 · Phoenix | Creature-shaped blade | 3 |
| Hand | 56 · Naga | Creature-shaped blade | 5 |

The original column lighting and low-tone sound concepts carry into the field. A built installation would need the generator, controls, electrical storage and acoustic output to be designed together. The wind and sound behavior in the presentation is illustrative; no output, noise level or turbine performance has been measured for these forms.

## Digital plan and coordinate system

The machine-readable plan is `source/layout-90.json`. All positions use metres, with **Y up**, X across the field, and negative Z toward the background sea or mountains. The main field bounds are X −70 to 70 and Z −55 to 55. The walking route occupies the foreground on positive Z, and the wind field extends behind it.

Each turbine stores its model reference, position, initial rotation and local terrain height for every setting. The catalog `source` paths point to existing GLB models relative to the enclosing `outputs` directory. The same horizontal positions are used for all three settings, so switching the landscape preserves the installation arrangement.

Terrain formulas and path samples are included in the JSON so the 3D viewer and model exports can use the same geometry. In JavaScript, terrain height is:

```javascript
// Coast
0.4 + 0.012*(z+55) + 0.18*Math.sin(x/24)*Math.cos(z/30)
// Mountain
1.5 + 0.022*(z+55) + 0.65*Math.sin(x/34)*Math.cos(z/45)
    + 0.35*Math.cos((x-z)/58)
// Meadow
0.6*Math.sin(x/30)*Math.cos(z/36) + 0.35*Math.sin((x+z)/48)
```

The route uses parameter `t` from 0 to 1:

```javascript
x = -62 + 124*t;
z = 37 + 5*Math.sin(2*Math.PI*t - 0.4) - 6*t;
```

## Scope of the concept

This is an artistic spatial study at an illustrative site. The models and setting are suitable for design discussion, visual comparison and subsequent development. Real wind behavior, structural stability, fabrication, electrical generation, acoustic impact, weather exposure, shoreline or mountain conditions, and the installation’s public use require site-specific engineering before construction.
